Does Eating Healthy Help Fight Off Disease?
Food is a part of everyday life, and a wondrous part of it at that. Just think back on last night’s meal – the taste, the smell, the company with good friends and family. There is no doubt that food is held in high regards in all of our lives.
But the North American diet has led a lot of us astray in the health division. Because obesity is at an all-time high in North America, it is now being regarded as an epidemic concern. And, because an unhealthy diet as well as obesity contributes to disease, it is time to pay attention to this epidemic and do something about it.
“Obesity is a leading cause of preventable illness and death in North America. People who are obese are at a much higher risk for serious medical conditions” – Canoe
How Eating Healthy Helps
Eating healthy prevents disease by giving your body the vitamins and minerals your body needs to stave off illness and increase your energy levels and, thereby, increase the quality of your life. This is accomplished by a nutrient dense diet to ensure a maximum level of protein and carbohydrates are obtained, as well as healthy fats.
Food such as cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, Kale, onions and other) feed your cells with what they need, which is a huge factor in whether or not you will develop a disease. Cellular nutrition is everything as it comes down to you are.
Cells are where your tissues and organs stem from. They are continuously working and communicating with each other. They respond to the environment you are in and they get messages from how you move and interact with your world. Keeping your cells well-nourished with the nutrients they need helps to keep you well nourished. If they don’t get what they need, and cannot work properly, then your tissues and organs are going to be affected negatively, and that is when disease and health conditions will start to arise.
Eliminates Curable Disease
Many people are showing that healthy eating can not only help you prevent diseases, but also bring you back to health from diseases that are very well known in North American culture such as diabetes, heart disease, multiple sclerosis and others – the list is growing quite long.
Feeding your body what it needs helps it do its job by keeping you alive and well. But eating healthy also promotes your cells to have the energy to rid the body of toxins, maintain good brain health, and maintain and repair your body to its optimal condition.
Reduce Symptoms Of Chronic Disease
The body wants to remain in a healthy homeostasis, because it is the essence of life. Symptoms of chronic disease, such as autoimmune diseases, have been altogether vanished through correcting the diet.
A good case in point is Dr. Terry Wahls, who has eliminated symptoms of her multiple sclerosis (MS) although being diagnosed with secondary progressive MS. Through using correct dietary principles and feeding herself nutrient dense foods, she has been able to have a fully functional life again.
